Description

A giant gold dollar bill hangs from two wooden clothespins like laundry left out to dry. The visual pun comments on money laundering: dirty money cleaned and returned to circulation. The portrait of Pablo Escobar takes the place of the president, and the inscriptions “Global Money Laundering” and “The United Crimes of Cocaine” replace the original wording of the US banknote, linking money, power and the global drug trade into one system.

The aluminium sheet is crumpled and folded, like a worn note that has passed through many hands. The gold surface catches the light and changes with the viewing angle.
